Socialization is the most important thing you can do for your new puppy! In fact, a puppy’s social window CLOSES at about 18 weeks of age! What this means, is that you need to expose your puppy to ANYTHING that they are likely to encounter in everyday life, including other dogs. If not, they are more likely to become an anxious and fearful adult dog, which increases the risk for aggression. The puppy social is a place where your puppy can play safely with other puppies OFF LEASH under the watchful eye of a dog trainer. During playtime, puppies will also have the chance to discover play tunnels and objects with different surfaces – all part of socialization!
Puppy social is open to puppies from *8 weeks to 6 months of age.
No Registration is required! However, you will need to set up an account in our system (do that HERE) and you will need a Puppy Play Pass! Passes will be available for purchase during your regularly scheduled classes, day training or when you arrive at the puppy social itself.
We have two different passes available:
- Puppy Social Day Pass: A single use pass good for one puppy social – $15
- Puppy Social Membership Card: This pass will be good for five sessions and will be offered at a discount over the day passes. The membership cards will be stored and filed for your convenience at Heavenly Hounds upon purchase – $60 (a discount of $15!)
Note: Both passes will be non-refundable after purchase but can be transferred to teen play. Passes will expire 4 months after DATE OF LAST USE.
What to bring:
- 4ft.-6ft. leash (no flexi leashes)
- properly fitted collar with identification tags
- Proof of 1st round of parvo distemper vaccination required upon first visit
- treats (it is recommended you have some at the ready, but it is not required)
Check the homepage to make sure that play will be held the day/evening you are attending. If play has been canceled (happens infrequently), it will say so IN RED right below the scrolling banner on the home page.
Please remember that if you have not taken a class with us before, you need to set up an account with us HERE.
Every Wed 10:30a-11:15a
Every Friday 6:30p-7:15p
*If you have been regularly attending puppy socials, we will tell you when your dog has aged out of play. 6 months of age is not necessarily the cut off point for regulars, just for new dogs to Puppy Social. We make this decision based on the dog, their play style, sociability, age, and enjoyment of our puppy social program.
We also have an INVITE ONLY Teen play program on Friday nights after puppy play for dogs who are older and their play style is starting to look more “adult” so if your dog has “aged out” of Puppy Social, we may ask you and your dog to join us there. This program is reserved for dogs who have regularly attended Puppy Socials and are now in need of play with older dogs “more their own age” or size and is, again, INVITE ONLY. We will let you know if and when we would like you to graduate to Teen Social. You can learn more about Teen Social HERE.
